MSG Tre Ponder was KIA on 28 June 2005 in Afghanistan. He left behind a wife and 2 young daughters. As the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are drawing to a close, the awareness of those affected by these wars has diminished and charities like Snowball Express, an organization for the children of the military Fallen, have been impacted with increased demand, but decreased donations. Because of the decrease of donations, Tre’s daughters wanted to give back to the organization that has helped them. Samantha came up with the idea for a 5K and Elizabeth used her own money to pay the application fee.
Funds from the 5K goes to support children of fallen soldiers. Snowball helps the children of all Military Fallen through many activities throughout the year but the largest is a 4 day event where the children can be together. It is a chance for the children of the Fallen to heal, have fun and to be around those who truly understand what it is like to lose your military parent.
The Snowball Express Organization provides the opportunity for children of the Fallen to be together with others, learn more about them here >>
